Hillcrest Church and Falls Community Church have joined together to bring the Gospel as well as humanitarian aid to a remote village in Southern Sudan. The people of Southern Sudan have been devastated by the long civil war and genocide over religious freedom. Food security is the most important need in the area we are traveling to. We are going to help the village of Kalalayi build a farm that can sustain the village and produce enough extra as to sell in the local markets.

The packing monster has met defeat!
OK, so a week ago I was telling you about the dreaded packing monster but I want you to know that it has been conquered! I have assembled 4 outfits, bathroom supplies, journal and bible, lots of medicines, shoes, sheets, blanket, sleeping on the plane necessities ( ear plugs, eye cover, and pillow), books, word finds, pictures, camera, water bottle (primed I might add), first aid kit, copies of documents, gum and other food stuffs, shampoo and bathing gear such as we can, underwear, jammies, extra baggies for anything 3 oz or more I forgot to put in one, mosquito net, and, let's see, what else? Well, anyway, it is done and now I am ready to go. I passed Ben's inspection after today's service. Whew! I can't remember why I was so scared to go just a few months ago. Must have been the packing because now I feel free to fly! Or maybe it is all the wonderful friends and family who are sending prayers out for us. Prayers for protection and travel and safety and health. Prayers for language barriers and lives changed by lights that will shine Jesus to the people. Prayers for water and food to eat that won't make us sick. Prayers for our families that will go through the day to day without us for a couple of weeks. Prayers to avoid jet lag and malaria and typhoid and mango flies! Prayers for the Jesus film we will show. Prayers that many will come to Jesus within the next two weeks. Prayers for courage and strength and energy. And joy! Oh, the joys of packing are behind me now and what I look forward to is the joy of Jesus that is waiting for me at the end of the runway in Juba. And waits for me tomorrow in my bedroom in Sioux Falls when I wake up. And is mine tonight as I write to all of you. And is yours if He is yours. Jesus Joy to all of you! Looking forward to Juba Joy!
